The Fortnight of Song Tag

Image
Hello!  MovieCritic  nominated me for this tag, which looks like a lot of fun to fill out. I mean, you all know how much I love musicals, right?  Rules:  -Answer all of the questions to the best of your ability -Share the button and link -Tag a few people to share the joy Alright, let's get started.  Questions What are three musicals that you really, really, REALLY like? There are many. My favorites at the moment are Heathers, Hamilton, and Hadestown. Note: I did not intend to pick three musicals that started with the letter ''H'', but it makes me ridiculously happy that it turned out that way.   Name three of your favorite songs from musicals? Hmm. *bites lip* ''The Schuyler Sisters'' from Hamilton, ''Road to Hell'' from Hadestown, and ''Anybody Have A Map?'' from Dear Evan Hansen.  Who is your favorite actor or actress from a musical? My favorite actor from a musical is Lin-Manuel Miranda, because he's so talent...

Series Review: One Day At A Time

Image
I'm so excited about doing this review, because I really loved this show, and wanted to talk about it. So, onto the review. Creators:   Gloria Calderon Kellett and Mike Royce Cast:  Justina Machado, Todd Grinnell, Isabella Gomez, Marcel Ruiz, Stephen Tobolowsky and Rita Moreno.  Rating: TV-PG Summary: One Day At A Time follows three generations of the same Cuban family who live in the same apartment: a newly divorced veteran, her teenage daughter and tween son, and her old-school mother.  My Thoughts:  As I mentioned above, I have a lot of thoughts about this series. I would definitely recommend it, if you like sitcoms, or are just looking for something fun and new to watch.  What I Liked: -The characters I love the entire Alvarez family! They're all so great, and each of them brings something different to the show. I like Schneider and Leslie a lot, too. And Syd! Can't forget about them. -The humor There are times when I've actually burst out la...

Character of the Day: Buffy Summers

Image
'Ello! I'm here to do one of my favorite things.......talk about fictional characters that I love.  I'm starting off with the titular heroine of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Spoilers ahead.  Brief Facts Buffy Summers is the main character on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. She's the Slayer, which means it's her destiny to slay vampires, demons and the forces of darkness. She's sort of the leader of the Scooby Gang in the first five seasons, and then fully becomes the leader in Season Six.  Oh, and she died twice.  Why I Like Her: I feel like Buffy doesn't always get the recognition she deserves. Sure, in Season Six.....she's a bit of a mess [but who isn't? It's Season Six], and I couldn't stand her in Season Seven, but, for the first five seasons, she was one of my favorite characters. And she's a great character, so let's dive a little deeper, and start talking about why I like her. She's A Great Example of The Chosen One Done Right The C...

Things I Love In Stories

Image
Do you remember when I made my rant post about my least favorite tropes?  So, here is a list of my favorite storytelling elements/tropes/whatever. Not in order, just FYI. Slow-Burn Romances Ah, slow-burn romances! There's something magical about two characters who very obviously have feelings for each other, yet one or both of them are completely clueless about them, and/or they think the other will never reciprocate their feelings. Sure, this can get annoying if things get drawn out for too long, but, most of the time, it's pretty great. And when they finally kiss?  Greatest. Thing. Ever. Well-Written Sibling Relationships I love siblings stories and, especially, sister stories [like Little Women]. It just makes a really interesting dynamic, because while siblings love each other very much [most of the time], they can also annoy each other a lot , which can be fun to read [and also realistic, at least for me]. Any Type of Retelling I know they've been done a lot, but I ...
