Let's Talk About Diversity In Fiction

Image
'Ello, friends. So, today's topic is something I've been wanting to talk about for a long, long time. And that is.....diversity in fiction.  Back in March, I said that, in the future, I might make a post on diversity. And now, six months later, here I am. Diversity is a controversial topic.  Maybe you think we need not only more representation but better representation. Maybe you think fiction is diverse enough and people need to just stop complaining about it. Maybe you fall somewhere in the middle or aren't sure where you stand yet. All of those are valid opinions. Now, let's get into the actual post.  Before we start, just know that I'm not trying to offend anyone. I'm simply stating my thoughts and my opinions.  So, what is diversity in fiction anyways? When people talk about diversity they usually are referring to the fact that at least one of the characters is: -Female -POC -LGBTQ+ -Disabled -Religious -Or something similar or a combination of some of...

The Jolly Genre Jubilee Tag

Image
Hi! So, I know I've been doing a lot of tags lately, but this just looks SO FUN, so I wanted to do it.  So, here's the post.  The Rules Thank the person who tagged you [ehehe, so I stole it, but I stole it from  Becky's  blog. -Leave a link back to the creator [ Kenzie  created this tag, so you should thank her] -Answer the questions honestly, and include at least one gif of a pelican [this is the most random rule ever, and I love it] -Tag 3+ friends to do this tag on their blog [so I'm tagging  Skye ,  Elizabeth , Chloe the Movie Critic and  Quinley , and anyone else who wants to do it] Alright, onto the tag. What is your favorite genre of fiction to write? Fantasy! Fantasy, fantasy, fantasy, sooooo much fantasy! I love fantasy! If I'm being specific, probably magical realism. I really love writing stories that are set in our world that has bits of magic and fantasy in it.  What genre would you NEVER get caught writing.....EVER? I just...

The Never Have I Ever Book Tag

Image
Hello! The lovely  Annika  nominated me for this tag. Thank you so much! Never Have I Ever: Read A Later Book In A Series First Um, guilty!  When I was little, I used to read books before checking if it was a series, so I read a lot of sequels first, and then got very confused. Never Have I Ever: Burned A Book Um, excuse me. Who would do that? The monsters!  Needless to say, no, no, I have not. Never have, never would. Never Have I Ever: Gone Into A Shop To Buy One Book But Came Out With Many Oh, definitely. I've gone into a bookstore intending to buy nothing, and still came out with many. I love books. Never Have I Ever: Loved A Book When I Was Younger, But Hated It When I Was Older I don't think so. Usually, even if I don't like a book as much as I did when I was younger, I have nostalgia for it. Never Have I Ever: Read A Book I Knew I'd Hate I don't think so. I wouldn't want to spend my time on a book I know I'd hate from the get-go. But maybe I have and...

My Jane Austen Opinions

Image
Hello! A little while ago, I talked about making a post with my Jane Austen opinions, so I'm going to be doing that. So, today I'm going to be talking about each of the Jane Austen books that I've read, in the order that I've read them in, accompanied with GIFs from the movies/miniseries. Sense and Sensibility This was the first Jane Austen book that I read, and I really liked it. I like both Elinor is a great heroine, and I like her a lot, and Marianne is fantastic, too. I love the contrast between them, and the end message [ie. both extremes can be bad and harmful]. Edward is a sweetheart and Colonel Brandon is amazing, too. The story wasn't my favorite of Jane Austen's books, but I did like it, and thought it was good.  Pride and Prejudice I actually knew the story of Pride and Prejudice because I [gasp] watched the movie before reading the book. My mom has been watching the BBC version since I was way too young to know what the movie was about [I vaguely re...
