My Favorite Marvel Heroes

Image
Hello again, fellow bloggers. This is my second post for  Thunderbird Queen  and  Miss Woodhouse's  MCU Blogathon. The Blogathon is running for the entire month of January, so if you want to join, you still have time to make a post. Anyway, today's post is about my favorite MCU characters. This was so hard because there are so many good ones. At first I was doing just five, but then I kept thinking of more that I liked. To make things a bit easier, I decided to stick to heroes, even though there are some great sidekicks [*cough* Luis *cough*] and villains [*cough* Loki]. So, let's get started. #7: Scott Lang The Ant-Man movies are really great, and I think that's partly because of Scott. He's a nice guy, despite being a former criminal. He's funny, he has great lines, and he's a great character. Also, he's a great dad [TBH, we need more good parents in fiction]. I think I covered the basics of why I like him, but I'm sure there are more reasons that

Movie Review: Clueless

Image
Hi, everybody! Last year Movie Critic recommended Clueless to me, and I really did mean to get around to it, but then I completely forgot that I had wanted to watch it. Flash forward to a couple of weeks ago, when I saw the trailer for it, and thought, ''Oh, this looks good. I'll consider it as one of my options the next time it's my turn to choose for movie night.'' You can probably guess where that leads up to, so I'll spare you the boring details and start the review. Clueless was written and directed by Amy Heckerling and stars Alicia Silverstone, Stacey Dash, Brittany Murphy, Paul Rudd, Donald Faison, Elisa Donovan, Breckin Meyer, Jeremy Sisto, Dan Heydaya, Aida Linares, Wallace Shawn, and Justin Walker. Summary: Cher Horowitz, a popular and seemingly shallow Beverly Hills teen, must use her hidden wit, intelligence and compassion to deal with the highs and the lows of her life, whether that's a C in debate, trying to set up her new friend, wonderi

Series Review: Anne With An E

Image
Hello everyone! I hope your week is going well. It's been good for me. I recently finished watching Anne With An E. It's an amazing show, and so emotional, and I had so many thoughts and feelings about it, so I needed to review it. I've also seen the '80s adaptation with Megan Follows, but it's been years. I need to rewatch it. And I think I like this one better. Anyway, here's what I thought of it. Anne with An E was created by Moira Walley-Beckett [based on the books by L.M Montgomery], and stars Amybeth McNulty, Geraldine James, R.H Tompson, Dalila Bela, Lucas Jade Zumann, Corrine Koslo, Aymeric Jett Montaz, Kyla Matthews, and Miranda McKeon. My Thoughts: I think the term adaptation really fits for this show. It stays true to the tone of the books and keeps the most iconic parts of the book [like when Anne accidentally got Diana drunk, her yelling at Mrs. Lynde and hitting Gilbert over the head with her slate, dying her hair green, etc], while adding in a fe

5 Reasons Why You Should Listen To Bring It On: The Musical

Image
Greetings, everyone! So, if you read my December recap, you'll know that I've recently become obsessed with Bring It On: The Musical. I sing the songs almost nonstop. That's how good it is. However, the fanbase is virtually nonexistant, so I'm making a good solid list of reasons why you should listen to it. Basically, the story is about high school senior and the captain of the Truman Cheer Squad, Campbell, who's determined to have her team win Nationals, and finally feel like she's accomplished something. Then she gets transferred to Jackson High. However, the next two girls in line to become cheer captain (Skylar and Kylar) flunk and get mono, respectively, leaving Eva as the cheer captain, and Campbell begins to suspect foul play. Still determined to win Nationals, she puts together a cheer squad for Jackson High, and attempts to lead them to victory.  #1: It Portrays Cheerleading In A Positive Light How many movies have you seen where cheerleaders are portr

The MCU Tag of Ten

Hi, everyone! So, today I'm going to be talking about Marvel.  This is the second blogathon I've ever been a part of, so I'm super-duper excited! Plus, I love Marvel, so there's that.  This blogathon is hosted by Miss Woodhouse, and Thunderbird Queen. For some reason, my phone isn't letting me do links (I don't usually blog on my phone, but the computer charging cord broke, and the new one won't be here for a few days). So, I'll just trust that you know who they are.  Look at Hawkeye's bow! Isn't it so cool? The Questions: What is your favorite movie? I can only choose one? Not fair. Not fair at all.  Okay, hmmm, I do really love The Avengers, so that one might be my favorite. But, really, I love all of them.  What is your favorite Stan Lee cameo? The one in Infinity War. Who is your favorite character from the Original Six? Black Widow! She's a wicked fighter, and I think she has a cool personality, and is an interesting character.  I also

5 Reasons Why I Love The Last Summer of the Garrett Girls

Image
Hello. So, as you can see from the title this post is about my all-time favorite standalone book, The Last Summer of the Garrett Girls. I read this book for the first time in July, and I've read it almost every month since then [I have a problem...]. If you're reading this, you're probably wondering why this book is my favorite. It's not classic literature, it's not a fantasy epic or a complex drama. Out of all the standalone books in the world, why is this one my favorite? So, I came up with five reasons why it's my favorite. Here's a quick summary so you know what it's about: One summer will challenge everything the Garrett girls thought they knew about themselves---and each other. Kat lands the lead in the community theater's summer play, but the drama spills offstage when her ex and his new girlfriend are cast too. Can she get revenge by staging a new romance of her own? Bea and her boyfriend are headed off to college together in the fall, just l

10 Life Lessons I Learned From Anne Shirley

Image
I remember very clearly when I first read Anne of Green Gables. I was around 7 or 8.  My dad had been going shopping [probably for groceries or hardware or something], and, for whatever reason, my sisters and I had to go with him. There were a lot of coloring books at the checkout area, so my dad said that we could each pick out a coloring book, and he'd buy it for us. I've never been much of an artist in the traditional sense, so I was busy looking at all the books they had. They were abridged versions of classics, and I was immediately drawn to the cover of one book: Anne of Green Gables. So, I asked my dad if I could have that book instead of a coloring book, and he said yes. Ever since I read her first monologue [the one about how she'd sleep in a tree if Matthew didn't come], I fell in love with Anne Shirley, and her story. By the time she got to the point where she told Marilla that her favorite part of the day was bedtime so she could imagine things, I knew we w
