Pretty Little Liars Review

Image
Hello everyone! So I finished watching Pretty Little Liars, and I decided to write a review of it.  So, let's start off with a quick summary.  Four friends band together against an anonymous foe who threatens to reveal their darkest secrets, while also investigating the disappearance of their best friends. Pretty Little Liars was created by I. Marlene King [and based on the books by Sara Shepard], and stars Troian Bellisario, Ashley Benson, Lucy Hale, Shay Mitchell, Ian Harding, Keegan Allen, Sasha Pieterse, Janel Parrish, Bianca Lawson, Laura Leighton, Holly Marie Combs, Tyler Blackburn and Lindsey Shaw.  My Thoughts: So, obviously, I'm very late to watching this show. XD [if you're curious, it ran from 2010 to 2017]. Overall, I'm really glad I watched it, even though there are a lot of issues with it.  So, I'm going to be discussing the pros and cons of the show, and then I'll discuss the characters. Oh! And spoiler alert, obviously.  The pros -First of all,

Your Assumptions About Me Answered

Image
Hello! So, about a month ago, I asked you all for some of your assumptions about me, so here are my answers.  Skye's Assumptions Your favorite color is pink This one actually isn't true. I mean, I love pink, but I don't think it's my favorite color [it's probably my second or third favorite. It switches with mint green a lot]. Purple is my all-time favorite color, though, and has been for pretty much my entire life.  Glee is your favorite show Well, it's one of my favorites. I have a lot of favorite shows, and whichever is my most favorite alternates depending on the day. Glee is definitely up there, though, so I'll just say yes. You love reading Yes! I really love reading. I do get reading slumps sometimes, but, for the most part. I love it. Actual footage of my childhood. You have great taste Aw! That's so sweet of you. Taste is super subjective, so it's hard to judge. I mean, I think I have good taste, but not everyone would agree, so I'm not

My Favorite Glee Songs

Image
I love Glee. That should come as no surprise to any of you, since I talk about it constantly,  One of my favorite things about Glee is the music, so I decided to make a list of my 30 favorite Glee songs.  Note: I am not a professional musician, nor have I had extensive music training. This is just my opinion as someone who likes Glee and music. #35: Summer Nights It's a Mercedes and Sam duet! What more could you ask for? The background vocals are equally amazing.  #34: Go Your Own Way Lea's voice is just gorgeous here! She sings this song really well. #33: Thriller/Heads Will Roll The singing and dancing in this is amazing, as always, and the makeup is also really cool. It's a great Halloween song. #32: Big Girls Don't Cry Darren and Chris' voices are everything in this song! Lea sounds wonderful, too. This song just always makes me emotional. #31: Don't Stop Believin' You knew this one would be somewhere on this list. I love every version, and it's inc

My Favorite Speculative Fiction Shows

Image
I love speculative fiction. Fantasy is, hands down, my favorite genre, and sci-fi is pretty great, too. In fact, up until 2020, I pretty much only read fantasy and sci-fi, but now I'm branching out! So, here are a few of favorite speculative fiction [but mostly fantasy] shows. Buffy the Vampire Slayer Summary: In ever generation, there is a chosen one known as the Slayer. It is her job to defend the world from the demons, vampires and the other forces of darkness. This time, it's Buffy Summers. With the help of her friends, she must take on the task of saving the world. BTVS is such an iconic show. I love all the vampire lore, which is what the show is mostly about, but there are also storylines with witches, werewolves, demons, etc. There are always so many different, unique plots and storylines. I also really like the characters. Buffy and Giles are probably my favorites, but I love all of them. For the most parts, I really like the romance [especially Tillow and Woz]. While

My Frustrations With the Bad Boy Trope

Image
Hello everyone! So, today I'm going to be discussing a trope-----in particular, a trope that I have some issues with. And that trope is the bad boy. You've probably seen this trope before.  The bad boy is, well, bad. Sometimes he's considered that because he sleeps around, drinks a lot, and participates in things such as car racing or thievery.  Often, in addition to that, he's a complete jerk. He's mean. Sometimes it ranges from being kind-of-a-jerk, but with good intentions and a good heart to being INCREDIBLY creepy. What Are My Issues With This Trope? Well, I have a few issues with this trope, actually. The first one is that the bad boy never has to own up to his mistakes. The narrative isn't like, ''Yeah, this guy is a jerk, and he needs to get better''. It's more like, ''Hey, this guy is kind of a huge jerk, and that's fine because he's hot.'' *loud, dramatic sigh* I mean, I don't blame you if you only like

October Recap

Image
I can't believe that October's over! 2021 has just flown by so fast. October was a really great month for me, and it felt really long for some reason. Not sure why.  Let's get on with the recap, though.  Books I Read In October Plus, since I didn't really do any book reviews, here are some of my thoughts on these books. Jane Eyre: 4 stars [I liked Jane, the writing style was great, and the story was interesting, but Mr. Rochester exists, which knocks it down a whole star] Sweet and Bitter Magic: 5 stars [I loved it! The characters were interesting and I loved their dynamic, the magic system and world-building was really cool, plus there's a sapphic relationship] The Graveyard Book: 5 stars [just a really interesting book, with great characters, plus I love Neil Gaiman's writing]. Incarceron: 3 stars [it was okay. I didn't regret reading it, but it wasn't a favorite. The concept was really interesting, though]. The Light Fantastic: 4 stars [I love Terry
