August Recap

Image
 Hello! How's your August been? Mine's been nice, but it also felt really long. Like, the beginning of the month feels so long ago. Books I Read in August Movies/Shows I Watched In August Seasons Four and Five Seasons Three and Four, and a teeny bit of Season Five Events of August -I got to work so much on my book! It's really coming along, and it's over 260 pages by now. That may not be a lot for some people, but it's the longest novel I've written at this point, and it's not done yet. -I baked a rainbow cake. This is something I've been wanting to do for a really long time, and I think it turned out pretty well.  -I also dyed my hair! I thought it turned out really well, and I like it a lot. Not sure if you can really see what my hair looks like, but, if not, you can at least see my Pride earrings in the second photo. -I went to a wedding! My aunt's friend's son got married, so I was invited, and I thought it was pretty fun. -Also, some friends

In Which I Talk About My WIP

Image
 Greetings, friends! So, during my semi-hiatus, I did get to do a little more writing than usual, so I thought now would be a good time to talk about my WIP. So, here we are. I stole   borrowed this tag from Christine's blog. Technically, you're supposed to do it doing NaNo, but I'm doing it now.  What first sparked the idea for this novel? I'm not....totally sure. I know the idea first came to me in November 2020. It came from me wanting to write a book with magical powers, and I've always liked elemental magic, so that's sort of how it got started. Originally, I'd imagined it as a TV show, actually, and it was just a fun idea to play around with in my head, but then I ended up tweaking it a little, and it's now it's a whole novel. Share a blurb [or just an overall summary if you'd prefer]? I think I'll probably just give a summery, honestly, because that's easier. It's summertime. For most high schoolers. that means swimming, a nice

Mid-Year Book Freak-Out Tag [2021 Edition]

Image
 Hello! So, the lovely  Katie  said that anyone interested in this tag could fill it out, and, well, I'm interested. I know that nearly September isn't exactly mid-year, but it's close enough, right?  Anyway, let's do this. *cracks knuckles* Best book you've read so far in 2021? Well, ah, that's a hard one. I'm just going to talk about standalones here, to make things easier for myself. I read a lot of really fantastic books in 2021, but my favorite just might be The Girls I've Been by Tess Sharpe. I don't know if that's the definitive best book I've read this year, but I love Tess Sharpe's writing style, and the story was super intriguing, and the characters were fantastic.  I would highly recommend this, but there is a fair amount of tension, since the main characters are caught in a hostage situation, in addition to mentions of sexual abuse, child abuse, and abortions [none of which is graphic, but it's there, so if any of that tri

Book Review: Queens of Geek

Image
  Well, this book was fun!  I don't know if I've talked about it before, but I actually really like fluff.  Of course I love deep, gritty, hard-hitting stories, but I also really love stories that are a little more lighthearted and just downright fun. And Queens of Geek definitely delivered that. Before we get on with this review, here's the summary: Charlie likes to stand out. She's a vlogger and actress promoting her first movie at SupaCon, and this is her chance to show her fans that she's over her public breakup with co-star Reese Ryan. When internet-famous cool-girl actress Alyssa Huntington arrives as a surprise guest, it seems Charlie's long-time crush on her isn't as one sided as she thought. Taylor likes to fit in. Her brain is wired differently, making her fear change. And there's one thing in her life she knows will never change: her friendship with her best guy friend Jamie-no matter how much she may secretly want it to. But when she hears ab

Thoughts On Doctor Who {Part 1}

Image
 Hi, friends! So, I've been wanting to make a post on Doctor Who for a long, long time. As soon as I finished the first season, I wanted to make a post about it, and then I got sidetracked, and now I'm on Season Four.  But I'm here now, so let's get started! So, I'm assuming that you all know what Doctor Who is about, but, just in case you don't, it's about a time-lord called The Doctor [Christoper Ecclestion, David Tennant] who travels throughout space in time with a companion [Rose [Billie Piper], Martha [Freema Agyeman], and Donna [Catherine Tate].  My Thoughts: Doctor Who is just one of those shows that just feels like it was written for me because it just has so many elements that I love in fiction. I've really liked the characters so far, and, while some of the episodes have been medicore for me, I love it a lot. What I Liked: -As I sort of mentioned earlier, I love the whole vibe of this show. First of all, it has time travel, which I love in fict
