Five Tips For Actors

Hey, it’s me again. I think if you read my ‘’About Me’’ page then you know I love acting. I’m not professional or anything but here’re some tips for people starting out [or looking to improve].
Tip #1: Figure Out What Type Of Actor You Are
Can you memorize a script by reading it twice? Do you need to experience what your character does? Do you need to carefully memorize the script or be more spontaneous? Do you prefer live theater or movies? Figure out how you play the character best.
Tip #2: You Don’t Have To Make Every Character Relatable
Yes, some villains are well developed but I played a mean girl in a play, and I didn’t make her relatable: I just made her as hateable as I could. Besides, if it isn’t a drama, normally the mean girl is just…..mean.
Tip #3: Find Actors Who Inspire You
You know all those TV shows and movies you’ve seen? Look up the show on the Internet and find the cast. Find some actors who inspire you, whether it’s because they’re kind people or just great actors. Some of my inspirations are Tricia Helfer, Zendaya, Katee Sackhoff, Jennifer Lawrence, Angelina Jolie, Charlize Theron, Alicia Vikander, Pauley Perrette, Karen Gillan and Lesley-Ann Brandt.
Tip #4: Find Someone To Imitate
I remember everything. Not kidding. I can remember being two [vaguely, but it still counts]. So, find a character in a movie or show who is somewhat like the character you’re playing and imitate them slightly, when you’re acting. It really helps. For example, in a play where I was the mean girl [mentioned above] I imagined Tara from the American Girl Chrissa movie. In a sci-fi play I imagined Kara Thrace from Battlestar Galactica
Tip #5: Make The Character Your Own
Don’t completely copy someone else’s character. Figure out how your character walks, how they talk, how they respond to things, if they like pie [yeah, well who doesn’t?]. Inspiration is fine, copying isn’t. Some people bring bits of themselves in their roles, some don’t.
Well, I hope this was helpful. Are any of you actors? What type of genres do you act in [I’ve only done musical theater, which is fine since I like to sing]? Who are some of your inspirations?
