Descendants 3 Review
Heyyyyy, I’m back, and reviewing Descendants 3! First off, though, I’m doing a Q&A so if you have any questions just read here: https://thetalesofatriplethreat.blogspot.com/2019/08/01/q-&-a-announcement/
Anyway, I will now be reviewing the third installment in the Descendants franchise. Yes, it was amazing. Yes, I’m so sad that Cameron Boyce died. R.I.P, we’ll miss you. Now, on with the review.
******Warning! Mild spoilers ahead so read at your own risk***********
Summary
The V.Ks are back in this thrilling final installment in the Descendants series. Mal, and her friends select another batch of kids from the Isle of the Lost to come to Auradon Prep when an unfortunate incident makes Mal think they need to close the barrier forever. Meanwhile, a mysterious dark force threatens Auradon. Will they be able to stop this new villain in time?
My Thoughts
I liked it a lot. I loved the first movie, and liked the second one so I wasn’t sure if I would like this one or not [Spoiler: I did]. It’s awesome! I don’t really like the costumes they were wearing for most of the movie. It was…..just weird.
Ehhhh, mostly better. I love the development of the characters, although I felt like Mal had a choice she had to make where the answer was very obvious. Just my opinion. I also wish Jay and Carlos were in it more. And Evie. I know Mal’s the main character but she’s not the only character.
I liked Jane in this movie. I feel like she had more of a part [and, as always, she has really cute outfits]. I still don’t see how she ever thought she was ugly. This is just my opinion but I feel like Brenna D’Amico is the prettiest of the Descendants stars. I mean, those eyes.
AGHH, Yes, I know I’m a traitor since this is from D2 but just look at her ADORABLE smile.
She and Carlos have such a sweet relationship. Ok, ok, I promise I won’t put any more Jane pictures in since you’re most likely bored of them by now.
To be honest, even though Audrey made a great villain I felt like she wasn’t as great as either Maleficent or Uma. I’m also confused as to how exactly she went evil. Obviously Mal had sort of accidentally ruined Audrey’s life, and, sure, Audrey’s a jerk but she didn’t strike me as the evil type. Plus, Chad’s hair is just awful. Fight me on this if you’d like but it just is.
As always I love Mal and Evie’s close friendshup. They bring out the best in each other. And this picture is SO CUTE.
I love how important Uma was to the story, and I liked the finale. It was the perfect ending, even though I’m still a little sad that Descendants is over. It’s so awesome. The story was great, and I liked the addition of Hades who’s spoiler Mal’s dad.
Now, for the songs. I wasn’t a huge fan of Audrey’s solo ‘’Queen of mean’’ but I loved ‘’Bring it Down’’, ‘’Good to be Bad’’, ‘’One Kiss’’, ‘’Night Falls’’, ‘’My Once Upon A Time’’ and ‘’Do What You Gotta Do’’, The music was awesome.
Since it’s a Disney Channel movie there was no ‘’romance’’, swearing or violence so if you don’t like those things you don’t have to worry about them in this movie.
Overall, I’d rate it 8.5 out of 10 stars.
Have you seen Descendants 3?
I haven't seen Descendants 3 (or the first ones), but your review is amazing. And I agree Jane looks so pretty, I know a lot of girls who don't see themselves as pretty but are actually quite pretty (even if they aren't fashion model style pretty...)
ReplyDeleteHowever regarding the spoiler of Hades *this is sort of a spoiler* are their any signs in the first two movies that Mal is a demigod? (It sounds like a weird question) but does she have any traits that could be connected to the god, Hades? (Like the son of Poseidon usually has some connection with water,) Basically what I am asking is if she has some connection with death or the underworld in anyway through this one or the previous ones *end spoilers*
Audrey seems like an interesting villain, though it seems like it is turning the tables a little by making the daughter of Maleficent the hero and the daughter of Aurora the villain.
I also think it kind of neat to have Uma be a hero in the third movie, since I remember (I remember hearing people talk about it at least) that Uma was the villain in the last one.
I loved reading your review,

Yes, Mal actually is a demigod since Hades is her father. That's so cool.
ReplyDeleteYeah, that's what I love about Descendants. They change up fairy tales. And Uma was the villain in the last one so it was cool.
(Sorry if this wasn't clear), does Mal have any underworld related powers? Since she is the daughter of Hades, I was just wondering...
DeleteAlso the only thing that frustrates me (despite the fact that I haven't seen the movie) is that Jane's doll and animated version of her is SO slim compared to the real actress, it just seems weird to me...I mean, I am sure Jane is a role model for girls, but then they look over at the doll and she looks nothing like the actress and she is also slim. It just doesn't really make sense to me that they didn't at least try to make the animated version of Jane and the doll version at least a tiny bit curvy.
-Quinley
I haven't noticed anything directly connecting to the underworld but she does have control over most magic that most other characters don't have but nothing directly connecting to the underworld.
ReplyDeleteUGH, yes. The doll looks nothing like the actress, and also her hair is lighter with pink streaks that the actress doesn't have, and they didn't get the eyes quite the right color. You're right. The doll is way thinner than Brenna D'Amico (and Brenna is quite thin, already). Sofia Carson (aka Evie) has an extremely thin body but she doesn't look unhealthy and that's just her body type and Jane's doll doesn't resemble Brenna, which, I agree, is frustrating.
