The Reader [Book Review]

Image
Hello. So, you may have noticed Blogger has been acting weird lately, so I had to make this a Google Doc, and then transfer it to Blogger, so…..sorry if the quality isn't the best. Anyway, today I’ll be reviewing the newest book I finished. This is book one in the Sea of Ink and Gold trilogy. Genres: YA/sci-fi/fantasy Author: Traci Chee Page Count: 437 Summary: Sefia knows what it means to survive. After her father is brutally murdered, she flees into the wilderness with her aunt, Nin, who teaches her to hunt, track, and steal. But when Nin is kidnapped, leaving Sefia completely alone, none of her survival skills can help her discover where Nin’s been taken, or if she’s even alive. The only clue left behind to her aunt’s disappearance and her father’s murder is the odd, rectangular object her father left behind, an object she comes to realize is a book-a marvelous item unheard of in her otherwise illiterate society.  With the help of this book, and the aid of a mysterious stranger ...

Hello! So, yes, I decided to do some more tags. So, first up, The Bedtime Book Tag. A Book That Kept You Up All Night Hmmmm, I don't think I've ever stayed up all night for a book, but the longest I've stayed up for a book is Everblaze, because I needed to return it to the library, because my family was moving. A Book That Made You Scared to Sleep None, really. A Book That Made You Go to Sleep Hmmm, well, I was bored by the original Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm. It was too long. A Book That Left You Tossing and Turning All Night in Anticipation of its release Legacy, for sure. A Book That Has Your Dream Boyfriend/Girlfriend Okay, so technically it started as a TV show, but there's a comic series, so that counts. Kaylee from Firefly is pretty much my dream girl. She's sweet, cute, smart, pretty, fun, and just an all-around great girl. Or Karen, who, again, is technically from the book I'm writing about her. No idea why, but I've always ...

The Librarians [Series Review]

Image
Ok, so I didn't mean to do a rewatch of this series, but it's really good, and you all should see it. Also, I've never done a review style like this before, so let me know if you like it. Rating: TV-14 Genres: Action, Adventure, Comedy, Drama, Fantasy Cast: Rebecca Romijin, Christian Kane, Lindy Booth, John Harlan Kim, Noah Wyle, John Larroquette Creators: John Rogers Summary: A group of geniuses are recruited by a magical library to hunt and retrieve dangerous, magical artifacts. My Thoughts: I'm not kidding when I say that in 2017 I watched an episode or two of this show every day. Yes, that included lots of rewatches. And, three years later, it still holds up. The cast is great, the writing is great, and they manage to come up with different ideas so the story isn't ever boring. I love how the team works together. There are a lot of types of people I would recommend this show to. Basically if you like quirky, character-fueled stories, or fantasy, you...

10 Fictional Characters I Can Relate To

Image
Hello. Have you ever read a book or watched a movie/show, and thought a character was a lot like yourself? Here are a few of mine. #1: Elizabeth Bennett, Pride and Prejudice Of Jane Austin's heroines, Lizzie is the one I relate to the most. We both enjoy reading, and the outdoors, and have several similar personality traits. Lizzie is very free-spirited, and independent, which I am. I also do tend to quickly judge people sometimes. Not quite as much as Elizabeth does, but more often then I'd like. It's hard to explain, but I could definitely see the similarities when I first watched Pride and Prejudice. #2: Daisy Johnson, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D Well, first of all, Daisy reminded me of myself in the first season of AoS, when she was a new agent. Her geekiness, enthusiasm, and sense of humor were what I related to. As Daisy's storyline progressed, I found that I could relate to other parts of her. Daisy has a very strong sense of justice, and wants Inhumans to ...

Hello! So, remember back in February when I fangirled obsessively about Warehouse 13? So, I decided it might be time for me to list my ten favorite episodes [and, boy, this was hard....]. I've already reviewed it on my blog, so if you're really interested you can read that, but you'd probably like Warehouse 13 if you like -History -Sci-Fi/Fantasy -Quirky characters and witty dialogue -Clean fiction [it's not totally clean, but definitely more so than most shows] -Or you're just in need of a new show to watch. Note: This list has [very minor] spoilers, so read at your own risk [kinda] #10: Magnestism Pete and Myka are sent to investigate a small town, where the inhabitants' minds are being altered, making them act as they please. Meanwhile, Artie is confused by the energy flows going on in the Warehouse, and he seeks help from Leena, who may know more about what is going on. Why I Love This Episode: So, I watched an episode of Warehouse 13 before th...
