The Rip it or Ship it Tag

Helloooooo.
So I've seen this tag go around the blogosphere a lot, so I thought, why not do it? I kind of bent the rules, though. Here's what I did.
-Put the names of 15 book characters in a shoe [yes, I really did use a shoe]
-Put the names of 15 movie/TV characters in another shoe
-Shook it up, and picked one out of each
-Figured out if they would make a good match and either ship them or rip them
So, let's get started
Kyle Smith [My Untitled Book] and Wanda Maximoff [The Avengers
So, um, this one will be interesting. Kyle is a very goofy guy who loves to mess around, and is the comic relief/audience surrogate in my book. Wanda has a lot of emotional issues, she has superpowers, and a ton of horrible things happen in her life. I think Kyle would want to be with someone more fun and lighthearted, and Wanda would want to be with someone more sensitive. I rip it.

Lena Kaligaris [The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants] and Claire Littleton [LOST]

So, again, this is an interesting match. Lena's very shy and reserved, and Claire is more outgoing, but they're both very sweet and caring. I feel like they could bring out the best in each other.
So, I ship it.
Olivia Washington [My Book] and Gaius Baltar [Battlestar Galactica]
Uhhh, well Gaius is an arrogant, cowardly genius scientist who'll hook up with just about anyone. Olivia is also a scientist, but she's very sweet and kind of shy, and she's not a coward [I mean, she's an expert sniper and martial artist]. She's way too good for Gaius, and she has a girlfriend, so I rip it.
Grandpa Eddie [Jumanji: The Next Level] and Mal [The Isle of the Lost]
Ignoring the fact that Mal's sixteen, and Grandpa Eddie is, well, a grandpa, I'm conflicted about these two, On one hand, they'd snark right back at each other. On the other, maybe they'd both need to be with someone sweeter?
After some thought, I ship it. It would be hilarious.
Ben Gates [National Treasure] and Matthew Chang [My Book]
So, Ben is a determined, smart, intuitive treasure hunter, and Matthew is an arrogant computer genius, Matthew is funny and can be kind, but I don't think they'd work well together.
I rip it.
Jacqueline Lawson [My Book] and Karen Willis [The Librarians]
I'm honestly not sure how this would work. Jacqueline and Karen are both assertive, smart, powerful women, and they're both gay, so I think they'd relate to each other, and I think they'd be able to open up to each other.
I ship it.
Albus Dumbledore [Harry Potter] and Pete Lattimer [Warehouse 13]
Uhhhhhh, well, I doubt this would work. Pete is a funny, fun-loving guy, and Albus Dumbledore is an eccentric professor.
I rip it.
Frodo Baggins [Lord of the Rings] and Dan Espinoza [Lucifer]
Dan is a pretty nice guy, but I think he'd find Frodo a little odd. And, honestly, I don't think Dan is Frodo's type.
I rip it.
Percy Jackson [Percy Jackson] and Charlotte Richards [Lucifer]
Sooooooo, this would not work very well. For one, Percy's a teenager, and Charlotte's in her forties. Second, Charlotte's a lawyer who's very rich, and used to fancy things, and Percy's a snarky demigod. I doubt things would go well.
I rip it.
Fitz Vacker [Keeper of the Lost Cities] and Neo [the Matrix]
Uh, yeah, this-this would not go well. Their personalities aren't compatible. I just thought no when I saw this.
I rip it.
Vi Garrett [The Last Summer of the Garrett Girls] and Daisy Johnson [Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D]
Aside from the age difference, this would totally work. Daisy is very brave and tough, but she's sweet, and Vi is a geeky, sweet bookworm. Also, Vi is a good listener, so that would be essential.
I ship it.
Cinder [The Lunar Chronicles] and Mazikeen [Lucifer]
As awesome as this pairing would be, I don't think they would work.
Maze is too much of a wild card and her morals aren't nearly as strong as Cinder's. They'd work well as a team together, but long term? No way.
I rip it.
Annie Jenkins [My Book] and Ana-Lucia Cortez [LOST]
Similar to the Karen and Jacqueline ship, these two are different enough, but similar enough that they could probably relate to each other really well. Annie's tough and brave and determined, which Ana-Lucia would respect, but she's also sweet, and I feel like, being a cop and all, Ana-Lucia would want to protect her.
I ship it.
Kat Garrett [The Last Summer of the Garrett Girls] and Caprica Six [Battlestar Galactica]
Well......interesting. Kat is a drama queen with a big temper, and Caprica Six is a humanoid robot, who blew up all of the Twelve Colonies, but feels bad about it.
I think these two would be a case of 'opposites attract' and they're both smart and compassionate, so I could see this working out.
I ship it.
Gimli [Lord of the Rings] and Spock [Star Trek]
I can't even...........
I rip it. They would hate each other.
So, did you like this post? Who would you ship or rip?

  1. This was a fun post to read, McKayla. :) I like that you included one of your OCs in the post, and I am very excited to learn more about him once you're ready to share. :D Also Gimili and Spock was such a funny ship. XD
