Glee Season One [Review]
Hello! So today I'm going to be reviewing Glee Season One [which doesn't have many episodes to begin with], so without further ado, let's get started.
Mercedes Jones is also a very talented singer. I think she might be the best one in the club. The way she dresses sort of reminds me of Donna from Parks and Rec. Mercedes is very bold and outspoken, and isn't afraid to put jerks in their place. She's probably my other favorite, and she's pretty cool.
Noah Puckerman is another football player. Unlike Finn, he has a tough attitude, and is a bad boy. Honestly, I didn't really like him, and he just seemed really annoying for this season.
Rating: TV-14
Genres: Comedy, Drama, Musical
Creators: Ian Brennan, Brad Falchuk, Ryan Murphy
Cast: Matthew Morrison, Lea Michele, Cory Monteith, Chris Colfer, Mark Salling, Dianna Agron, Naya Rivera, Heather Morris, Amber Riley, Kevin McHale, Jenna Ushkowitz, Jayma Mays, Jane Lynch, Harry Shum Jr.
Summary: A group of ambitious misfits join a high school glee club headed by passionate Spanish teacher, Will Schuester, and learn valuable lessons about music, and life in general.
My Thoughts: Glee isn't really my type of show, but I grew to love it. First of all, there's music in every episode in various genres. Whether you like pop, rock, hip hop, R&B, showtunes, there's probably at least one song in a genre that you like. And that's just in the first season.
Glee also deals with real problems high schoolers face in a very realistic way. It's taken seriously, and not made fun of, but it's not done in an over-the-top soap opera kind of way. The characters are also very well-written and developed. Well, with the exception of Mike and Matt, who mostly exist so the Glee club can have twelve members. Brittany and Santana start off this way, but soon get a bit more focus on them. Also, can I just say how unique the members are? They all kind of fit a stereotype, and kind of don't.
All in all, Glee is a pretty great show.
Favorite Episodes: Preggers, The Rhodes Not Taken, Showmance, Vitamin D, Sectionals, Bad Reputation, The Power of Madonna, Theatricality, Funk, Journey to Regionals
Characters
Mr. Schuester is the main character. He's a Spanish teacher and the Glee club teacher. He's usually a pretty nice guy, but he can be super annoying at times (even though he's not supposed to be). So I'm not a big fan of Mr. Schuester.
Rachel Berry is the female lead. She's an extremely talented singer (and, apparently, won her first singing trophy when she was eight months old). She's also a dancer, straight-A student, and participant in pretty much every extracurricular the school has. Rachel is definitely a diva, and is incredibly annoying most of the time. Rachel is very devoted to singing, and she does do good things to help people out. So, sometimes I really don't like her, and other times I like her.
Finn Hudson is the quarterback of the football team, and a good singer. Mr. Schuester sort of forced him to try out for Glee, but Finn likes it, and he struggles with balancing sports and Glee club. He's not very good with school, and is kind of dumb, but he's nice. One of Finn's biggest flaws is that he's passive, and cares a lot about what other people think of him. Kurt Hummel is a really good singer, and one of the few openly gay students in school. He can be a bit snobby at times, and thinks that his uniqueness makes him better than other people. He's also very stylish, loves Broadway, and is very into room decorating. He's also a really good kicker for football. Kurt is probably my favorite character, because he's so well-developed.
A lot of times with more 'feminine' gay male characters, it's played for laughs, whereas with Kurt it's just part of who he is. He's gay, and he just happens to like fashion.
Kurt is also a very good dancer, in addition to being a good singer.
Artie Abrams is also a very talented singer. He's the only kid in their school who uses a wheelchair. He's also a pretty normal guy, who's into video games. He also does some pretty cool dance moves with his wheelchair. His dream is to be able to walk and dance, but, until then, he does a pretty good job in his wheelchair.
Tina Cohen-Chang is a shy, Goth girl. She's a good singer and dancer, and is pretty nice. She's pretty quiet, but isn't as shy as she was at first (it was so bad that she faked having a stutter to get out of speeches). Tina's pretty cool, in her own way.
Quinn Fabray is a straight-A student, captain of the cheerleading squad, and president of the celibacy club, and Finn Hudson's girlfriend. She's also the resident queen bee. Of course, that all changes once she gets pregnant. Quinn is a very.......different character, but she's very interesting, and grows to be more likable.

Santana Lopez is another cheerleader. She's very catty and snarky, with killer insults. Santana doesn't get much development this season, but she's a cool character, has a great voice, and, honestly, I've always liked her.
Brittany S. Pierce is yet another cheerleader. She can be a bit mean, but she's mostly just dumb, which makes her very entertaining. I like Brittany, and her friendship with Santana is great. Sue Sylvester is the coach of the cheerleading team. She's Mr. Schuester's enemy, and it's always fun to watch her crazy schemes [and they are INSANELY weird]. And, surprisingly, she can occasionally be nice.
Emma Pillsbury is the guidance counselor. She has OCD, and is very sweet, if shy and softspoken. Emma wasn't my favorite, but I didn't hate her or dislike her. She was more of a side character, anyway.
So, have you seen Glee? Do you plan to?
I haven't seen Glee yet, but the show looks intriguing and funny.
