59 Of My Favorite Female Characters
Heyyyyyyy, guys. It’s been only a few days since I’ve posted, because I’ve been crazy busy. Anyway, due to that I will not be posting on my doll blog for a few more days since that takes more time, which I don’t have much of. Moving on to the post *drumroll* Today, we will be talking about my 50 Favorite Female Characters. As I watch more movies and TV shows and read more books this list may change, and I may do an updated version.
Note: I do not own any of these images or gifs, they were all found on google. Also, this is in no particular order. I love all of these females equally. In just put down numbers so I wouldn’t forget how many I’d written.
1: Elle Woods-Legally Blonde
Elle is one of my all-time favorite characters ever. She’s living proof that liking pink and dresses and cute dogs [because seriously--who doesn’t?] does not make you less intelligent, or less of an amazing character.
Plus some of her quotes are downright hilarious. Elle went through what many women, especially blondes and/or highly stereotypical women go through: you can’t possibly do that. However, Elle proved her haters wrong and dished some common fashion knowledge.
To be fair, she is totally right.
2: Natasha Romanoff-The Avengers
Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow is one of my favorite Marvel characters of all time. She’s highly intelligent, a skilled fighter, and she is the only Avenger [that I know of] without superpowers, proving that you don’t need superpowers to be a superhero.
See, totally awesome without powers. Even if you’re not familiar with the Avengers just look up ‘Black Widow fight scene’ on YouTube, it’ll be worth your time.
3: Kara ‘Starbuck Thrace-Battlestar Galactica
Have I never mentioned before what a great character she is? Okay, I probably have at some point but let’s just say I’ve never talked about Battlestar before, m’kay? Like all the characters in Battlestar Galactica Kara is an extremely well developed character. She’s snarky, tough, and a total show-off. She also is extremely loyal, and cares a lot about her closest friends. She has anger issues, and various struggles she has to overcome but it makes her seem real. Plus, she just cracks me up in the first season.
4: Iko-The Lunar Chronicles
Ah, Iko, the most adorable, shoe-loving android ever to be invented. She’s one of my favorite Lunar Chronicles characters, and I’m a fan of loyal characters anyway. She’s also…..really funny, and I love to laugh, so there’s that.
5: Cady Longmire-Longmire
Cady is an amazing character. She’s an extremely smart lawyer, and she’s incredibly kind, with an interest in helping people. Cady believes in fairness, and equality, and she’s one of those characters you can’t help but love.
6: Hanna Marin-Pretty Little Liars
Okay, this is Hanna from the TV show which I haven’t seen but I’ve read the books and Hanna is very much the same. A super-fashionista who is…...not the brightest. She’s a sassy queen bee who knows what she wants, and she’s just pretty freakin’ adorable.
True, girl, so very true.
7: Wanda Maximoff-The Avengers
The most powerful Avenger [c’mon, we al know it’s true] is none other than this woman right here. Wanda Maximoff aka Scarlet Witch is a great character partly because of her awesome powers, and partly because she’s a complex character who was portrayed perfectly.
8: Abigail ‘Abby’ Sciuto-NCIS
Why would I even write this list if I didn’t include Abby, the Catholic/goth forensic scientist with a bubbly upeat personality and a ton of fun quirks that make her even more lovable. Abby’s super relatable, to me at least [am I the only one who’s that peppy without caffeine] and I just love her so much.
9: Mal-Disney Descendants
Mal is the daughter of Maleficent, and she’s into art, and purple-grunge style. Oh, and stealing candy from children. She’s a pretty complex character herself, and was ultra sarcastic, and kept her cool purple hair in the land of ‘pretty pink princesses.’ Hey, I’m not against princesses, Mal is.
10-Katniss Everdeen-The Hunger Games
Katniss is a street-smart, tough-as-nails hunter who fights for what is right, and really loves her sister and family. Katniss is extremely strong, both physically and emotionally, and knows exactly how to play the Games.
11-Nyota Uhura-Star Trek
Uhura is an extremely capable, smart and fierce character. I’ve watched the first reboot Star Trek movie twice, and I’ve always thought she was an amazing character because it’s true. Plus, does anyone else really like her high ponytail, or is it just me?
12-Bellatrix Lestrange-Harry Potter
Okay, okay, yes, I know she’s a deranged, obsessive killing machine but I have a thing for liking the villains. Well, certain villains, anyway. I’m not entirely sure why I like Bellatrix but there’s just something highly interesting about her, and she’s one of the most powerful Death Eaters, and old Baldimort’s [sorry, Voldimort’s] right-hand-woman.
13-Number Six-Battlestar Galactica
And, yes, I do mean all of the models, though Caprica, Gina and Head Six are my favorites. Oh, sorry, this must be really confusing for those of you who don’t watch Battlestar. So, Six is the Sixth of twelve Cylon models. Cylons are basically robots that look like humans, and there are multiple copies of each one, and whenever one dies they get downloaded into a new body. There are many different Six copies, and they’re all amazing in their own way. Each one is extremely complex, and some seem more good, while others seem more bad. Again, you’d have to watch the show, but Caprica in particular is intriguing: a little shy, clever, beautiful, and extremely determined and loyal, and faithful to God.
14-Spencer Hastings-Pretty Little Liars
Ah, Spencer, Spencer, Spencer. She’s a total perfectionist, highly intelligent [and athletic, too], well dressed, and an expert detective [no, she’s not a professional detective, she’s still in high school]. While she can go a little too far I love Spencer’s determination and ambition.
15-Fiona Glenanne-Burn Notice
She’s pretty much the definition of the word ‘awesome’. No, literally. She had fabulous sunglasses, and glamorous clothes [and shoes], and she knew a lot about weapons and explosives. She could normally make me laugh, and hold my breath in anticipation for what she was going to do next.
16-Ziva David-NCIS
Ziva is a gifted NCIS agent, who originally came from Israel. She’s incredibly physically strong, good with weapons, and very smart. She often mixes up American slang, which is quite entertaining.
17-Victoria ‘Vic’ Moretti-Longmire
Vic is a deputy in Absaroka county who originally lived in Philadelphia, and to be honest she is an amazing character. She’s tough, strong, and super sassy and sarcastic [#relatable]. She’s also pretty sensitive, and has her flaws, and things she gets nervous about things [horses, for example since she’s never had much experience with them. All in all, she’s a great character, and deserves wayyyyy more fans than she has.
18-Biana Vacker-Keeper Of The Lost Cities
Biana is a fashionable elf from Keeper Of The Lost Cities. She’s brave, kind and clever [and kind of a jerk at first]. Biana is extremely bubbly, and extremely honest and open. Besides, just look at those eyes. SOOOOOO gorgeous.
19-Princess Winter-The Lunar Chronicles
Winter is a little, well,.....a little kooky but she’s sweet, strong-willed, and extremely dedicated. She may not look dangerous or brave but you do not want to mess with her.
20- Agent Alexandra Forrest-Chuck
Why exactly do I love a character who was in one episode of a TV show? Is it because Tricia Helfer played her? Most likely. Seriously, though, I like her character since she’s basically a female Casey [and Casey’s one of my all-time favorite male characters], plus she had some good humor and action scenes. Also, I’m convinced she has a tragic past. I mean, nobody could be that against spies falling in love with each other unless something happened, right?
21-Lamia-The Librarians
I went though a Lamia obsession a couple years ago. It was really intense. While I’m not as crazy about her as I was before I can appreciate that she’s a great character [she’s a ninja assassin female villain, what’s not to like????], and she kinda kick-started my sword obsession. The Librarians should have given her more of a part ‘cause she was so cool, and had at least some character development, which I always like.
22-Winnifred Sanderson-Hocus Pocus
Winnifred is extremely dramatic, and hilarious [obviously, since Hocus Pocus is a comedy, after all]. She’s the lead villain, and is just so over-the-top in a good way. She’s a great villain, along with her sisters.
23-Sarah Sanderson-Hocus Pocus
The youngest Sanderson sister who was pretty dumb but in a funny, entertaining way. Like Winnifred Sarah was just the right amount of over-the-top, and while she’s innocent and somewhat childlike, she is a villain, and a great one at that.
24-Mary Sanderson-Hocus Pocus
Yup, I included all of the Sanderson sisters, and sweet, sister-pleasing Mary is as amazing and hilarious as her sisters. Sort of the suck-up to Winnifred, and the most gullible one Mary is funny and the Sanderson sisters trio wouldn’t be complete without her.
25-Scarlet Benoit-The Lunar Chronicles
How do I even begin to describe Scarlet’s awesomeness? She’s a feisty and fierce farm girl who’s not afraid to get her hands dirty, or take down a few bad guys. Her temper is as strong as her fiery red hair, and she’s. So. AWESOME!
26-Luna Lovegood-Harry Potter
Luna is extremely quirky, daydreams a lot, and is just generally strange. She’s a brave, smart girl who truly doesn’t care what other people think about her. She’s amazing, and I love those glasses, too.
Isn’t she SOOOOOO adorable?
27-Laura Roslin-Battlestar Galactica
Laura Roslin didn’t expect to be President but she’s really great at it. Honestly, why can’t all politicians be like her? She understood that sometimes you do have to lie, but she’s also incredibly kind, and understands what the people need. She’s smart, clever and brave, and stays to her morals.
28-Tris Prior-Divergent
Again, I haven’t seen the Divergent movie [sigh. I really should, it looks great] but I have read the books, and I’ve gotta say Tris is one of the best YA book heroines, and one of the most relatable to me. She’s sassy, and snarky, yet compassionate and caring, and a true leader. She has her flaws, of course, and she’s Divergent. In the Divergent world people are seperated into factions: Candor [the honest], Amity [the peaceful], Erudite [the knowlegable], Dauntless [the brave], and Abnegation [the selfless]. Divergent are people who fit into more than one factor. Tris is selfless, brave and smart, a cross between Abnegation, Dauntless and Erudite. Quite frankly, all people are Divergent, just not in their world.

Quite frankly, all people are Divergent, just not in their world.
29-Giselle-Enchanted
Giselle is a charming, dramatic almost-princess from Enchanted, who had no idea how the real world worked. She’s really very funny, and she makes dresses out of curtains, which must take some serious talent.
30-Emily Fields-Pretty Little Liars
Emily is a star athlete, and is the sweetest girl in the PLL books. She’s always there for her friends, and she’s a little shy. She’s also extremely compassionate even towards people she doesn’t know well. She’s made mistakes, and learned from them.
31-Stella Bridger-The Italian Job
Stella works for the police as a safecracker. She’s smart, confident, and brave. She has a lot of common sense, and while she’s not big on revenge she was more than willing to get revenge on that awful, no-good Steve.]
32-Cress-The Lunar Chronicles
Cress is a sugar-sweet, geeky hacker with an affinity for pretty dresses, singing opera, and net dramas. I love her character, and while she was often incredibly nervous early on she grew to be much more brave and determined.
33-Lilly Moscovitz-The Princess Diaries
Lilly is the sassy, super-smart best friend of Princess Mia. She has a cable show called Shut Up and Listen, and she delivers the best burns.
She’s super loyal, and never backs down from a fight. She’s a thoroughly interesting character who isn’t impressed by name brands.
34-Karen Willis-The Librarians
Again, why do I like a character who’s been in one episode? I would say ‘Because she’s played by Tricia Helfer’ but I liked her before I knew who Tricia Helfer was. She’s a really great villain, and she was pretty brilliant. I mean, not everyone can be CEO of a food company that sacrifices interns to a Minotaur that lives under a skyscraper in Boston, and have modernized the entire process. Sure, the purpose was evil but still it’s kinda impressive.
Oh, yeah, she’s also pretty good with a gun, and may I add she had an excellent sense of style? Just look at her jewelry. She also had gorgeous shoes. And she managed to run in high heels? I guess part of what makes her interesting to me is that she was the first female CEO I saw on TV. Oh, and I’ve planned out a whole tragic backstory for her, too.
35-Liv Rooney-Liv and Maddie
Liv is a Hollywood actress and singer, with an amazing sense of fashion, and a bubbly, energetic personality. She’s sweet, fun, and funny. She can be a little selfish, and she’s also a true feminist, and caring girl. She did her own stunts in a movie even though she was terrified just to prove to her sister to never give up, and she told the reporters at a movie premiere that she wanted them to ask her about more than just her looks. Liv rocks!
36-Spensa-Skyward
Spensa is an incredibly tough, determined and confident girl who has her heart set on being a fighter pilot. She doesn’t back down and she fiercely defends the people she loves [and she suggested the callsign ‘Jerkface’ for a snobby guy].
37-Levana-The Lunar Chronicles
Levana is an awesome villain, and yet you kinda feel sorry for her [or maybe this is just me since I have a soft spot for the villains]. Anyway, she’s gorgeous, powerful, and I really want to know her backstory [why why WHY doesn’t the nearest library have Fairest????].
38-Number Eight-Battlestar Galactica
Truth betold I love all of the Eight copies, even though it gets very confusing about which one is which sometimes. They’re morally complex, and actually probably the nicest Cylon. Also, one of the copies is SUPER brave, which I love.
39-Aria Montgomery-Pretty Little Liars
Aria is an artistic, creative girl. She’s outgoing, yet secretive. She’s into reading, writing and all forms of art. She’s super smart in English, and she has kind of an edgy/Indie style of dressing, which I LOVE [again, even though I’ve only read the books].
40-Eve Baird-The Librarians
My sister likes Eve more than I do but I can’t deny she’s pretty awesome. She’s brave and tough, and she can be kind of funny at times. Plus, she’s the only one with any common sense most of the time.
41-Rogue-X-Men
Rogue has the ability to temporarily take the powers of the person she’s touching. She can also [not on purpose] suck the life out of the people she touches. She’s brave, compassionate and extremely resilient.
42, 43, and 44-Natalie Cook, Dylan Sanders and Alex Munday-Charlie’s Angels
Like the Sanderson sisters what makes the Angels especially great is when they’re together. Natalie is an adorable, somewhat ditzy seeming character who drives really fast and crazily. Dylan is a sassy, loud rebel. Alex is rather traditional and serious and is kind of an overachiever.
I love all their characters.
45-Rapunzel-Tangled
Rapunzel is probably my favorite Disney princess: she’s passionate, funny, and sweet, and highly entertaining--which is always a plus.
46-Carla-Burn Notice
Hey, would you look at that. It’s another character played by Tricia Helfer. I have no idea how that happened. *clears throat* Well, Tricia Helfer playing her is not the only reason why I like Carla.
Well, I appreciate her witty comebacks, and how intelligent she is. And I like that she rides a motorcycle. I also love how charming and ambitious she is. Oh, and side note: she is EXTREMELY well dressed [hey, fashion plays a part of what characters I like]. And, yes I have planned a tragic backstory for her as well.
47-Evie-Descendants
Evie is Mal’s best friend [and Daughter of the Evil Queen], and she used to be a total follower. Now she’s more unique. She’s a fashion designer who runs her own business, and she’s very smart. She loves reading, and chemistry and science. She’s also a pretty good fencer.
48-Daphne Kluger-Ocean’s Eight
Daphne is dramatic, snobby, and downright hilarious. She puts on a smile for the cameras, and yet she’s completely demanding and manipulative in a hilarious way.
49-Kitty Pryde-X-Men
Kitty can walk through walls, and I enjoy her fun, playful personality. She’s kind of a smart-aleck [at least in The Last Stand], and she does have some of the coolest powers [nothing tops Wolverine and Phoenix, though].
50-Cassandra Cillian-The Librarians
A mathematician with a habbit of squealing, and a love for…….unusual fashion Cassandra is a strong and amazing character who’s been through a lot [that I won’t spoil].
51-Cinderella-Cinderella
I actually like her better in the live-action version but I couldn’t find a picture of that and I was in a hurry. She was compassionate and kind, and pretty brave.
52-Asajj Ventress-The Clone Wars
Ventress was THE best Clone Wars villain, hands down. She was complex, deadly, and I loved her two lightsabers. She was pretty cool, and had AMAZING character development.
53-Mulan-Mulan
She saved China, AND fought for her dad. Need I even say more?
54-Riley Matthews-Girl Meets World
Riley’s insanely upbeat personality and love of bright colors makes her seem a little immature but she’s a happy, fun, great character.
55-Padme Amidala-Star Wars
I really liked her in Attack of the Clones. Well, okay, some of her and Anakin’s romance was kinda just plain weird. However, she was smart, brave, and had some of the best outfits.
56-Hermione Granger-Harry Potter
Hermione has always been one of my favorite Harry Potter characters. She’s clever, smart and stood up for the House Elves’ rights. She’s pretty cool. She’s also great at magic.
57-Uma-Descendants
She’s a great villain, super tough, and she has a cool pirate style. Although, what I never understood was why she was a pirate if she’s Ursula’s daughter.
58-Rey-Star Wars
Rey is a great heroine: she’s honest, strong and she’s very loyal [especially to BB-8-he’s so cute!]. Anyway, I just love her character, and she really reminds me of my sister.
59-Number Three-Battlestar Galactica
First of all I want a New Zealand accent now, and second of all I love how complex she is, and her intelligence and determination, and major skills.
Well, that’s all for now. Did I include a vast variety of characters? Yup. Were a good portion of them played by Tricia Helfer? Yes. So tell me are you a fan of some of these characters? Who are a few of your favorite female characters? Would you like me to do this again for male characters? Would you like to hear some tragic backstories?
I love Rapunzel, Cinderella, Mulan, Fiona, Rey, and Hermione too. :D
ReplyDeleteA few of my favorite female characters are Dr. Crusher (Star Trek: The Next Generation), Seven of Nine (Star Trek: Voyager), Kes (Star Trek: Voyager), Sarah (Chuck), Carol Danvers (AKA Captain Marvel), Diana Prince (AKA Wonder Women) Tina Goldstein (Fantastic Beasts), Queenie Goldstein (Fantastic Beasts), Alex McHugh (Chuck), Danielle (Ever After), Artemis/Diana (Greek/Roman mythology), Viola (Twelfth Night), Rosalind (As You Like It), Guinevere (The Arthurian Legends), Athena/Minerva (Greek/Roman mythology), and so many others that cannot possibly fit into one small comment.
also I would to see you do this post again for male characters. :)
-Quinley
Yay we have some favorites in common! Oh my gosh, I love characters from Greek mythology and Viola and Wonder Woman of course. I'd forgotten about Alex McHugh, she's a great character. Ok I'll definitely do a post with male characters soon.
ReplyDeleteLove Queenie Goldstein, too.
ReplyDeleteI swear I've commented on this before, but the characters that I've heard of are great. I would add all the Marvel ladies(especially Daisy, Jemma, May, Peggy, Hope, and Carol)
ReplyDeleteYes, I would add Carol, too except I hadn't seen Captain Marvel when I made this post. Hmm, sometimes the comments section doesn't work.
ReplyDeleteAnd, now that I've seen AoS I would totally add all of them, too
ReplyDelete
