A Kind-of Collaboration

Hi. I hope you've been enjoying An Untold Truth. I've certainly enjoyed writing it. If you like reading it here's a little proposal for you.
You'll get a chance to write some of it.
See, it goes like this.
-Answer some questions I ask about this fanfic
-Come up with a few ideas of your own
-Please don't answer 'all of the above' to every question
If you comment an idea I will give credit to you and your blog. I will not use EVERY idea but this doesn't mean I don't like your idea. It means I either had a different idea or it just wouldn't fit well with the story.
So, which new character should become a bigger part of the story?
A: One of the already existing Burn Notice characters [i.e Michael, Sam, Fiona]
B: A female weapons dealer who Carla has worked with before in the past
C: Spencer Morris
D: A blind, gifted spy who Carla's never worked with before
E: All of the above
What made Carla change so much in five years?
A: Her mother died
B: Her friend/boyfriend betrayed her
C: She was forced to kill an innocent person
D: Her boss [not Jacob, though] was cruel and abusive
E: All of the above
What should be Carla's deepest fear?
A: Lions
B: Heights
C: Having a child
D: Getting married
E: Spiders
Why are Carla and Jacob together?
A: Because she's using him to get what she wants
B: Because he's using her to get what he wants
C: Because they were bored/they had nobody left
D: Because she had a crush on him and he decided to be nice and play along
E: Because they both truly love each other
Free for all questions
What was Jacob's past?
What is Carla's hidden talent?
What is her guilty pleasure?
Why is Carla sick [please answer this question even if you can't answer the others]?

  1. 1. I would like both options B and E, and perhaps it would be interesting if the female weapons dealer was blind (perhaps that wouldn't work), but I love the idea of that.
    2. I think option C, since this would really upset someone if they realized the person they had just been told to kill was innocent or perhaps had some sort of connection with someone whom they know, and they are scarred after that. I also however like the idea of an abusive boss as well, perhaps the boss abused her enough that she couldn't not kill the innocent person.
    3. Option C since if you were a spy and you got pregnant that would mean you wouldn't be able to do as much work as you could have and you would be an endangering a child along with you.
    4. I like option A and B, it depends on what you think works really. But either her falling into the control of someone else and not realizing it, or her perhaps using what she had from her abusive before and using it on Jacob would be good, because she thinks she is doing something that can help her by using him (not necessarily abusing him, just using his abilities for herself.)

As for the ideas for the character development:
---I was thinking it would be interesting if he was a double agent, but no one knows it. But as far as backstory goes, this is the only idea I have for it.
-- She can do something musical of sorts (like singing, playing the violin, or something else.)
--As for what her guilty pleasure should be, perhaps she enjoys reading Children's books to call her nerves, since with what is going on, it can be nice just to sit down and read a book where nobody dies. Or likes to watch comedies or something that it just fun and where there are no guns and stuff like that. (I don't know if this would be in character for your version of her, but I hope you like it anyway (it's been awhile since I've watched Burn Notice))

And for the last question of why she is sick, perhaps someone did something to her like in that Chuck episode with the Truth serum, it probably wouldn't be Truth Serum, but at least something that makes you do something and makes you feel sick as well. (Instead of dying which was the fear in the Chuck episode that they would die if they didn't find the antidote.)

  2. 1: Yes, I think that would work actually. And yes those are some of my favorite options.
2: Yes, I can see where you're going with it. I like hearing your perspective. If someone abused her enough it is certainly possible that she would have to kill the innocent person.
3: I'm kind of leaning towards that option also. It would add another twist to the story if she actually got pregnant at some point.
4: I could definitely see her using Jacob and just making him think that she loved him. Option B is good since if she was really in love with him and thought he loved her than it would be heartbreaking for her if he turned out to not love her.
That's a great idea for Jacob's backstory. I could see that happening.
Yes, that'd be a great hidden talent for Carla to have.
Ooh, that actually makes a lot of sense. Good idea. And yes it fits with her character.
Oh, yes. I remember that episode. That does make a lot of sense.
    Thanks for commenting, Quinley.
