My Favorite Season 3 Episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Hello, yet again. Can you believe it's almost the end of 2020? Can you? Cuz I can't.
Also, can you believe I'm posting twice in one day? 'Cuz I can't.
ANYWAY, I recently finished Season Three of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and I was going to review it, but there were so many things I liked about it that were the same as previous seasons, and there was also way too much that I loved to sum it up in a review, so, instead, I present.........my favorite BTVS Season Three episodes [with GIFs, of course]. I'm going in chronological order, because there's no way I could narrow this down any farther. Also, there will be minor spoilers, so read at your own risk.
Anne
-Honestly a great start to the season.
-It feels a little more....melancholy than most BTVS episodes. But I like that.
-And, also, I FEEL FOR BUFFY. After the second season, it makes sense that she'd be upset. Was running away the best way to deal with it? No, but it's better than what I'd do in that situation.
-Okay, but watching the rest of the Scooby Gang fight vampires without Buffy is hilarious, and honestly the best part of the episode.
-Having a guest star from a Season Two episode appear again was really cool [I believe her name was Lily, but I could be wrong].
-Also, the fact that Buffy used her middle name as an alias, AND the fact that it's the episode title just makes me happy.
-It had some really good fight scenes, too, so that's cool.
Faith, Hope & Trick
-'Kay, so I have.....limited memories of this episode, BUT IT WAS AWESOME, NONETHELESS
-I mean, first of all, my girl Faith showed up, and started kicking vampire butt in truly the most epic way possible. And when she and Buffy worked together? AHHH. It's the best.
Don't ask me why I like Faith so much. I just do. She's honestly like a dark must-be-protected at all costs character, and I love her. She's definitely one of the highlights of the season.
-The villains of this episode, Kakistos and Trick. I don't want to give away spoilers, but they made good villains.
-It's so hard to introduce new characters, but Eliza Dushku has such good chemistry with everyone [especially Sarah Michelle Geller], which is very important.
-Like I said, my memory of this episode is limited, but I remember liking it a lot, so that's good.
Homecoming
-Buffy and Cordelia get some quality bonding time......while being hunted. Yay.
-Okay, but them competing for homecoming queen is awesome, and the tension is so great.
-Buffy's the only one who doesn't have a date to homecoming, which is sad [I mean, I've had experience being a fifth wheel. It sucks], and then Faith says she'll go with her......okay, I mean, friends go together, right?
-Cordelia hitting bad guys with a spatula. That is all.
-The bad guys who are hunting them down are pretty entertaining to watch, and do a pretty darn good job taking out Slayers....or really, attempting to take out Slayers......or, really, attempting to take out Cordelia who they think is Faith.
-Cordy has some awesome lines in this episode.
-Also, their homecoming gowns are incredible.
Band Candy
-I'm a sucker for these kinds of episodes. This one was hilarious.
-Snyder is just as annoying acting like a teenager as he is normally.
-Seeing Giles, and Joyce were as teenagers is really interesting, and funny.
-This episode is just all-around hilarious.
-Alternate Title: Buffy Being a Bad Driver, and Willow Being a Worried Friend
Lovers Walk
-SPIKE RETURNS. Yayyyyy.
-Oh, and he kidnaps Willow. No yay.
-This episode is also hilarious. Pretty much half of it is Spike whining about Drusilla breaking up with him, and I love that.
-Also, I love how much it's shown through Spike that vampire culture is vastly different from human culture. For example, ''We can still be friends'' is the ultimate insult.
-Also, the weird things Spike gets nostalgic about. ''There's the bench where we killed a homeless man. He screamed for mercy.''
-Okay, so one of the few things I didn't like about this season was Xander/Willow, so I'm glad they cleared that up in this episode.....but did it have to be in such a heartbreaking way?
-Really, this episode was just great.
The Wish
-The whole episode is sent in an alternate universe where Buffy never came to Sunnydale, after a wish that Cordelia makes in front of Anya, a wish-granting demon.
-This episode is one of the more dramatic ones, but it's SO GOOD. I love AUs.
-Cordy had some great lines, per usual.
-Honestly, this is just a really good episode, you guys.
-Also, Anya. She was meant to be a villain this one time, but she was so popular they brought her back.
Amends
-Yay, a slightly darker, more dramatic, Angel-centric Christmas episode. What more could you ask for?
-And then there's Willow, proving that ''Hannukah Spirit'' is an actual thing.
-I love how Joyce [that's Buffy's mom, by the way. In case you haven't watched the show] is trying to get Buffy to get closer to Faith again.
-And, I mean, she's right. Faith doesn't have anyone to spend the holidays with, which sucks.
-That last scene where Buffy and Angel are walking in the snow is just perfection.
See?
Gingerbread
-Ahhh, I love how this episode is retelling a less often retold fairytale.
-Willow's finally standing up for herself, which is awesome! And, to be honest, her mom is kind of a jerk anyway.
-''We have to save Buffy from Hansel and Gretel.'' This just perfectly sums up this show.
-Willow and Buffy nearly being BURNED AT THE STAKE made me angry, but I guess that's a sign of a good show if it makes you emotional. I mean, I was all ready to go in, and start bashing people with a fire extinguisher.
-Cordelia and Giles had some good interactions. They don't share a lot of screen time, so it was nice to see.
The Zeppo
-Yess, a Xander-centric episode! Finally. He's one of my favorites, and, ahhh, this episode was so good.
-First of all, it's hilarious. Xander has some really great moments.
-Second of all, I love when characters get a moment in the limelight.
-Also, it's showing that Xander does have a place in the Scooby Gang. Sure, he may not be a super-genius or a witch or a Slayer, but he's always there to help. And that counts for something.
-And the quotes from this episode are really great.
Bad Girls
-So, the previous episode was Xander-centric, and this one is kind of.....Faith-centric. I mean, other characters [mostly Buffy] are involved in this one, but it's primarily Faith and Buffy.
-I think what I like most about Faith is that she's a parallel to Buffy. She shows the dark side of Slaying, and what Buffy could've been like if she had been without Joyce and Giles and her friends.
-Okay, I'm genuinely asking here.....does Faith have a crush on Buffy? It really shows in this episode. Just the way she acts around her [calling her girlfriend, taking her to Homecoming, dancing with her, and just their interactions in general]. I'm just wondering. Was this intentional or do they just have really good chemistry?
-It's so hard to talk about this without giving away massive spoilers, but this episode shocked me and nearly made me cry. I mean, it was kind of a turning point for Faith [note to self: talk more about the episode overall, and less about Faith]. This is some quality storytelling, folks.
Dopplegangland
-So, in this episode Willow and Anya [see? I said she'd be important] accidentally summon Willow's evil vampire self from another dimension. Um. Whoops? Also, we've had Xander-centric, Cordelia-centric, Angel-centric, Faith-centric, Spike-centric and now Willow-centric, which is cool.
-This episode is epic and hilarious and awesome. I mean, it has a 9.3 on IMDB for ratings, so, clearly, lots of people agree with me.
-Have I mentioned how much I love Willow? I think I have, but I should mention it again.
-Some of these quotes are truly masterpieces.
''Now, if you'll excuse me, I have somebody else's homework to do.''
''You'll love it, B. It's just like fun, only boring.''
''I'm so evil, look at my outfit.''
''I'm so evil and skanky.....and I think I'm kinda gay.''
-Really, this whole episode is absolutely incredible.
Enemies
-We got some great Angel moments in this episode. He's incredible.
-Again, I love Faith and Buffy's interactions. You get the impression that Faith has been through a lot, so it's understandable that she's kind of unstable [not that it excuses what she does or anything. It just explains a lot].
-Okay, so I was totally shocked by the fact that Angel was playing Faith for this entire episode. Great plot twist.
-And then there was that Buffy/Faith fight scene, which was awesome.
Earshot
-Buffy gets physic powers. That is all the proof you need that this episode will be amazing.
-Okay, you probably want more of an explanation though, right?
-I mean, there's this little exchange.

-Ooh, someone's going to kill everyone, and the Scoobies have to figure out who it is. Interesting.
-Oh, Cordy. I love her one-liners. She's incredibly entertaining.
-Hey, Xander's theory was right! And it was done in a hilarious way.
The Prom
-Okay, so the monsters in this episode were super lackluster, but I still love it. It was an episode for drama and character development.
-It's also helping wrap up Season Three, and I love it.
-It also legit nearly made me cry so.....
-But it was also really funny! Like how Anya asked Xander to prom.
-All in all, a really great episode.
Graduation Day [Part 1 & 2]
-These two might be my favorite of the entire season.
-"We attack the mayor with hummus." Okay, I wanna see that.
-This was a really great way to end the season [and everyone's high school days]
-Also, the graduation scene is officially my favorite EVER. There's so much excitement. Cordelia even stakes her first vampire! So cool.
-The fact that the Mayor's last words were, ''Well, gosh'' is hilarious to me.
-Also, I don't think I've talked about him, but he was a really good villain.
-The whole 'Faith talking to Buffy in her dream' was a little weird, but very good.
-I mean, it was bittersweet, but it was a great ending.
-Also,
Really, I just love this show.
So, those were my favorite episodes. What were yours? Did you like this post?

  1. Season 3 is so good! I'm halfway through season 6 right now and it's not my favorite, so remembering these episodes helps. You picked such good ones. Band Candy is one of my favorites, and Lover's Walk cuz Spike. Basically all of them!

  2. Yes. I can't decide if I like this one or Season Two best. Maybe both of them. Band Candy is hilarious. As is Lover's Walk. Spike is just so much fun. I'm at the beginning of Season Four, and I love that he's showing up more. Yes! They're all so good.

  3. I've meant to keep watching Buffy. I was able to watch the first couple seasons on Netflix a few years ago before it got taken off. Since then I've only watched the odd one here and there. This makes me want to see it again!

  4. Ooh, I hope you do continue watching it. It's a really good show, and I like it a lot.
