My Top Ten Favorite Charmed Episodes

Hi everyone! I've been watching Charmed since January this year, and, while I haven't quite finished the show, I'm on Season Five, so I thought it might be fun to a top ten list. So, let's get into it.
#10: Happily Ever After
Summary: An evil witch kills the keeper of fairy tales, forcing the sisters to relive them: Phoebe is controlled by Cinderella's glass slippers, Paige bites into Snow White's apple and Piper and Grams fall prey to a wolf.
Why I Like It: What can I say? I'm a sucker for fairytale episodes. I also love all of the episodes with Grams in them. She's such a great guest character. I really loved all of her interactions with Paige in this episode. I also loved how Piper started to grow more confident in this episode, and ends up saving the day. The only thing that keeps it from being higher up on the list is Phoebe's Cinderella dress. I just wish it was more ball gown-esque, since it is Cinderella's dress, but it looks like just a basic white dress. No offense if you like it, though. Everyone has different tastes.
#9: Chick Flick
Summary: A demon emancipates celluloid monsters from the confines of the silver screen to kill Prue, Piper and Phoebe.
Why I Like It: This episode is just such a fun one. Phoebe wishes that a fictional man she has a huge crush on is real, and he shows up to help them fight off the villains and his interactions with the Halliwell sisters are just very entertaining. I also loved all the different horror movie archetype villains they had in this episode. There was also a lot of particularly good dialogue in this episode. As a whole, it's just a lot of fun.
#8: Brain Drain
Summary: Phoebe and Paige must work quickly to keep Piper from giving up their powers when the Source taps into her brain, altering her perception of reality and placing her into a mental institution.
Why I Like It: I think that Brain Drain gives a lot of interesting insights to Piper's character.Watching her try to figure out what's fantasy and what's reality is really interesting. Also, the Source's ability to tap into someone's brain makes him a much scarier villain.  I also think that Holly Marie Combs does an absolutely fantastic job in this episode [though, IMO, she's always great. I don't think I've ever seen a bad performance from her]. The one thing I could think of that would have made this episode better is if Prue had come to visit Piper, instead of Piper's friend. I know they couldn't have actually done that, since Shannen Doherty didn't want to be part of the show anymore, but it would've been more interesting.
#7: Which Prue Is It, Anyway?
Summary: To defeat a powerful foe, Prue casts a spell to multiply her powers, only to find that the spell works by creating multiples of Prue.
Why I Like It: Cloning episodes can be tricky to pull off, but it [mostly] works here. I think that Shannen Doherty did a good job portraying all the different versions of Prue---, and I think that this episode gives a lot of insight into Prue's character and the different sides of her. Also, Piper had some awesome lines in this episode.
#6: A Paige From The Past
Summary: Leo takes Paige back in time to relive the events leading up to the car accident that killed her parents. Meanwhile, Cole and Phoebe are possessed by two outlaw ghosts from the 1950's.
Why I Like It: This episode adds so much depth to Paige's character. You can see how guilty she feels about how horribly she treated her parents before they died and how she tries to make up for it and save her parents from dying. Rose McGowan did a fantastic job with this episode. Time travel stories can be really hit or miss, but I feel like this one really worked.
#5: Ms. Hellfire
Summary: Prue goes undercover to find out who sent an assassin to kill them and other witches on Friday the 13th.
Why I Like It: I love it whenever Prue isn't as serious. We see that side of her so much, and I like seeing a different side to her. She has this adventurous and kind of sensual side and I love getting to see that. I also loved Piper and Phoebe's interactions with the witch they rescued in this episode. It was hilarious. I also loved all the great interactions between the sisters----it's almost always good, but seemed particularly good in this episode.
#4: From Fear To Eternity
Summary: Every 1, 300 years, a unique demon appears that feeds on the fears of witches. This time it is targeting the Halliwell sisters and they receive aid from their Wicca ancestors just as they are close to their own fearful deaths.
Why I Liked It: I love episodes that involves people's fears. It's just so fascinating to me, and it's sort of like.....getting a deeper understanding of each character. Especially Prue. I feel like this episode sort of dove into her psyche more than Piper or Phoebe. I also thought that all of the actors did a fantastic job in this episode.
#3: Bite Me
Summary: The Charmed Ones fight a vampire queen who kidnaps Paige and tries to turn her against Phoebe and Piper.
Why I Like It: Hello, this episode has vampires in it, so, you know that the self-proclaimed Vampire Fangirl would love it. Mostly I love this episode for Evil Vampire Paige who is iconic [Rose McGowan does an amazing job in this episode], but there were also some good moments between Piper and Phoebe and between Phoebe and Cole. It may not be a perfect episode, but it's a fun one.
#2: That '70s Episode
Summary: To protect themselves from a power-stealing warlock, the sisters time travel to the 1970s where they encounter their mother and grandmother.
Why I Like It; Time travel can be so much fun when it's done right! And I feel like it was done really well here. This episode is very entertaining and kind of goofy, but there were a lot of emotional moments as well, mostly the Halliwell sisters' interactions with their mother. Also, have I mentioned how much I love Grams? Because she's an icon.
#1: Morality Bites
Summary: Phoebe has a vivid premonition foretelling her own death-burned at the stake for killing a man with her powers-in the year 2009. To prevent her execution, the sisters travel to the future.
Why I Like It: Yet another time travel episode that I think is pretty good. It's a lot darker than most other Charmed episodes, but I think that's a good thing. Piper and Prue both get to see what they'll be like in the future and it discusses a lot about morality [hence the episode title] and consequences. Personally, I think this one is a top-tier Charmed episode.
So, this is a complete list of my ten favorite Charmed episodes. If you've seen the show, which one is your favorite? If you haven't, which one do you think you'd like best?

  1. All these are my favorites too although I didn't really like 'Bite me', I just hate it when vampires show up. I don't think they fit the show at all.

Anytime the sisters get to do things out of the norm of their personality, is fun.

I did watch the series a few times though now I can't remember a lot of the episodes but I did think the episode where Andy dies (season 1) was done quite well although I do dislike having his character gone. Andy is sort of like the non-believer and he makes us understand why some people would not like to live in a world full of magic and witches and demons and evil beings. We need people like him to balance things out, I think.

    Have a lovely day.

    1. That makes sense. I just really like vampires.
It is! It gives the actresses a bigger range.
Oh, yes! I remember that one. It was great.
